The DeepTech Network is back! 💰

Imperial College London and Upstream are excited to invite you to join us at White City Innovation District for the next DTN event. We’re shaking things up and it’s an investor panel this time. Hear the insights and connect with top deep tech investors. Plus networking with the leading minds of our deep tech community.

SPEAKERS – more to come!

Jonny Clifford (Partner, Entrepreneur First): For more than a decade, Entrepreneur First has been finding and backing some of the world’s highest potential founders at the very start of their journey, helping them to build technology companies that would otherwise not exist. Now, the startups built on our programs are worth over $10B. Today Entrepreneur First is producing about 120 companies a year. EF investments span much of the width of deep tech – including biotech, healthtech, AI, robotics, space, cyber and sustainability. Jonny joined EF in 2016 and has supported companies that have raised over $100m in seed funding such as Atlas ML, FabricNano, Intropic, Sonantic and Unitary. He previously ran the sales team for Satchel, a Series A funded ed-tech startup in the UK, having joined as one of their first employees.

Amy Nommeots-Nomm PhD (Early-stage deep tech investor, Octopus Ventures): Octopus Ventures can back startups at every stage of their journey, from ideas on a page through to IPO. Each year it deploys more than £200 million across five areas where it sees maximum potential for impact: health, fintech, deep tech, consumer and B2B software. In 2023, it launched a £40 million Pre-Seed Deep Tech Fund. Its investments range from biotech to quantum, blockchain, energy, health and space.

Amy joined Octopus Ventures in 2022. She has a PhD in additive manufacturing, a masters in material engineering and is a chartered engineer. Her previous roles include time as a research development manager at Imperial College London and a project engineer at aircraft engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney Canada. Over her academic career Amy published over 20 academic papers.

John Anderson – Panel Chair (Chief Investment Officer, Imperial College London): John has played a key role in the evolution of the College’s Financial Strategy since 2000 including the establishment of the College’s Endowment Fund which now stands at just over half a billion pounds including the development of the Non-Core property portfolio (£8m in 2005 to £130m+ in 2022). The strategic objective is to maintain a viable financial strategy for the College to achieve its long term growth ambitions. John initiated the Imperial White City Campus, leading the College’s acquisition of the various land assets and supporting consents for over 4 million sq ft of mixed use development to date.
